WRITE NOW! Workshops

Write Now! SF Bay was established in 2015 to support writers of color working in all genres. Prior to the pandemic, our free monthly workshops were held at the San Francisco Main Library.

We currently meet on Zoom every 3rd Saturday, noon-3pm

Shizue Seigel often found herself the only writer of color in creative writing classes and workshops, so when she received a San Francisco Arts Commission Individual Artist Commission in 2015 to work on her memoir, she began offering Write Now! workshops in the Western Addition’s rapidly gentrifying Fillmore and Japantown neighborhoods.Six sessions at the San Francisco African American Historical & Cultural Society and the National Japanese American Historical Society grew into on-going monthly workshops that have reached over 50 beginning and experienced writers from 12 to 80.

On-going FREE workshops were held monthly at the San Francisco Main Library, every 3rd Saturday, noon-3pm

in the Paley Room, 3rd Floor.

Until the library reopens we will meet on Zoom

every third Saturday from 2-5pm.
